Seasonal Farmers Market Sales Representative

Location: Farm pickup (with travel to 404 N Market St, Wilmington, DE 19801)

Duration: Seasonal (May through October)

Schedule: Every Other Saturday, approx. 10 am - 7:30 pm

Vehicle & Driving: Possession of a personal truck or large SUV equipped and capable of towing our farm trailer (mileage/vehicle compensation provided).

Job Overview

Are you a mature, outgoing individual who loves local food, community vibes, and chatting with people? We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and organized Farmers Market Sales Representative to manage our bi-weekly market booth in Wilmington, DE. As the face of our farm, you’ll handle everything from packing up the morning's freshest goods to creating an inviting booth and connecting with our wonderful customers. If you enjoy working independently and sharing a passion for local products, we want to hear from you!

Ideally, you have a truck or large SUV capable of towing our small trailer to the market.

Key Responsibilities

Morning Prep & Loading 10 am: Arrive at the farm to gather the day's products. Load inventory, coolers, tables, and the display tent into the farm truck or trailer.

Setup & Display: Drive to the Wilmington market, set up the pop-up tent and tables, put up signage, and beautifully merchandise the products using our price list.

Sales & Customer Service 12:00 pm - 6 pm: Enthusiastically greet market-goers, answer questions about our products, handle cash and digital transactions, make accurate change, and keep a positive, welcoming energy.

Quality Control: Monitor and record cooler temperatures throughout the morning to ensure product freshness and safety.

Takedown & Return: At the close of the market, pack up the booth, drive back to the farm, unpack leftovers into the farm cooler, keep equipment organized, and turn in the day’s cash/receipts to the store manager.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

Personality: Mature, social, trustworthy, and comfortable initiating conversations with strangers.

Vehicle & Driving (Preferred): Possession of a personal truck or large SUV equipped and capable of towing our farm trailer is highly preferred (mileage/vehicle compensation provided).

Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, stand for the duration of the market, and comfortably assemble a standard pop-up tent and folding tables.

Skills: Basic math skills for making change; strong organizational skills to keep inventory and paperwork straight.

Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (comfortable driving a truck or towing a small trailer is a major plus).

Reliability: Since this market only happens bi-weekly, punctual and consistent Saturday attendance from May through October is a strict requirement.
